Downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing are available in the Canaan Valley which is about an hour and a half away.
Skiing at Timberline
Great sking begins with great snow, and with a peak elevation of 4,268 feet, Timberline gets more than its share (an average of over 150 inches each season!!) And where nature leaves off, our snowmakers take over, covering our terrain with enough snow to ensure the best possible conditions all winter long. With a vertical rise of 1,000 feet , you'll enjoy some of the longest runs in the East (as long as 2 miles). And because our 36 slopes and trails are evenly divided among easiest, intermediate, and expert terrain skiers of all abilities will find plenty of great ways to get to the bottom. Of course, once you've finished your run, our 3 chair-lifts will get you right back up for another.
